lifestyle correspondent Hilaria Baldwin had a chance to talk to Governor Chris Christie after his after his 100th Town Hall Meeting at St. Mary’s Parish Center yesterday in Manahawkin, New Jersey.
During his remarks,
Governor Christie thanked Hilaria?s husband actor Alec Baldwin for donating $250,000 to the Mill Creek Community Center in Manahawkin. In the past,
Alec and Christie have had their differences,
but the two set aside these differences when Alec called Christie shortly after Hurricane Sandy asking how he could help. Christie joked,
?I can?t believe I?m actually doing this,?
?Thank you Alec Baldwin.?
Hilaria was surprised by the Governor?s thanks and did not know he was going to make the donation public. Hilaria spoke to the Governor back stage and thanked him for the shout out,
relaying a text she received from Alec expressing his apologies to the Governor that he could not attend. Christie thanked her for helping and said,
?We?ll get together sometime soon.?
Alec and Hilaria were both very involved in local Sandy relief efforts. Hilaria witnessed the devastation first hand in Island Park and the The Rockaways where she joined
in delivering much needed supplies and goods. After seeing all the people in need the couple decided to donate money from Alec’s Capital One commercials to the Mill Creek Community Center with Governor Christie?s help.
