Hepatitis C is an inflammatory disease of liver, caused by HCV (hepatitis C virus) which in some cases may result in liver cancer. It is a chronic disease, estimated to be about 270-300 million people are infected all over the world. Mostly, it is spread by blood to blood contact.
Recently, it is reported that many patients are affected by this horrible disease. At Jacksonville Mayo Clinic, Florida-a radiology technologist is alerting the patients that it may have put them at a risk of Hepatitis C. Jacksonville Mayo Clinic has already tested 2400 patients for hepatitis C and moreover, have sent letters to 2000 more.
An ex-employee has admitted on using a painkiller. The problem is that he has hepatitis C which is contagious through his blood. 3 patients were infected with the virus, having the same strain of Hepatitis C that the employee has.
An informer from the clinic said that the patients that have been mailed are those who cared in an interventional radiology at St. Lukes Hospital from about 4 years, 2004 to April 11, 2008.
This type of Hepatitis can cause chronic infection and scarring of the liver in which health of patient goes down day by day, sometimes it leads to liver cancer that is so harmful
