The good news for the Indian fans is that India ruthlessly demolished Australia and ended a great end of Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship. India clean swept Australia by 2-0 by winning the 2nd and final test of the series.
Before this, in the tough contest, India chased the target of 207 runs set by Australia by losing only 3 wickets on the fifth and last day of test match. Most of the runs were chased by the debutant Cheteshwar Pujara (72 of 89 balls with 7 4s) and the little master, Sachin Tendulkar remained unbeaten on 53. After the loss of 1st wicket of Virender Sehwag in the early hours, Pujara built partnership with Murali Vijay (who scored 37 of 45 balls with six 4s) and set his team back in the competition.
When Pujara and Vijay lost their wickets, the experienced pair of Sachin and Rahul Dravid again became a wall for the Australians and both scored unbeaten 61 runs. In this way the match was won by India.
As far as their ranking is concerned, India is leading by 11 ratings from 2nd placed South Africa with 4433 points in 34 matches. On the other hand, Australia has slipped to 5th position with 110 ratings and 4061 points in 37 matches. This is the lowest ranking gained by Australia since it was introduced in 2003 (for last 7 years).
